Insomniac Games has issued many free upgrades on Marvel's Spider-Man 2 since its October 20, 2023 debut, which was met with almost overwhelming appreciation apart from some who didn't think Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was an average game. This week some promising details on the Spider-Man 2 narrative DLC were also shared by Insomniac. While Insomniac may be putting in all their effort for Marvel's Wolverine, it doesn't even account for the crew that is currently working on Spider-Man 2, last year's smash blockbuster. Even though the PC version of the game will have to wait until next year, the PlayStation 5 version will obviously be the first to get an update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Update, New Suit

Insomniac Games initially began with the planned New Game Plus for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which was an even larger upgrade than expected; however, the Insomniac cyberattack in December 2023 caused it to be postponed until 2024. A free cosmetic-focused DLC pack was released not long ago, including new costumes as part of the Kid Super partnership and bringing back several fan-favorite suits from earlier games with incredible style changes for picture mode enthusiasts to experiment with. Along the way, they've sent out a number of minor upgrades that addressed bugs and enhanced the overall experience.

We knew that Insomniac Games has kept fans' expectations high for the narrative DLC by keeping mum about the fact that they are still working on it. Officially, Insomniac will say something along the lines of "we don't have anything new to announce right now" if they have big news to offer but can't reveal specifics just yet. That's what they've done before in regards to narrative DLC and updates that did make it into the game. Their reaction has not changed, as they have mentioned that the announcement of the narrative DLC will likely be made when they are ready, which might be soon unless they tell us straight out no like they did when we asked about Eddie Brock's role as Venom in the main game.

The good news is that they haven't finished the game yet and are instead focusing entirely on Wolverine. Insomniac Games has announced that a new patch is on the way for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which will fix several technical problems including a glitch with the Tobu Maguire suit, and address certain user feedback. Since Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4) debuted with the three-part The City That Never Sleeps, fans have been waiting for Insomniac to disclose narrative DLC since before launch, so of course they wanted to know about additional content.

A new story expansion starring Beetle was confirmed to be in development following an unforeseen leak from Insomniac's own NG+ update, and the cyber-attack additionally proved Insomniac's intentions to continue supporting Spider-Man 2 with post-launch story developments, heightening expectations significantly. Marvel fans can't wait for the next PlayStation Showcase, which might entertain a lot of superhero game enthusiasts.
