SEGA is getting people excited again, this time with a mystery teaser before Tokyo Game Show 2025. A picture on the company's website showed the exhibition lineup for the event, but fans with sharp eyes noticed something odd right away: there were four blank spots marked for titles that hadn't been released yet.

Heavyweights like Sonic the Hedgehog, Virtua Fighter 6, and Persona 3 Reload are already on the official list. There are also games like Persona 5: The Phantom X and Borderlands 4 on the list, which will already be out by the time TGS starts. But those four hidden slots are what everyone is guessing about, and they might be getting ready for some big shocks.

The Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is a strong option. They are best known for the Yakuza Like a Dragon series and the upcoming Stranger Than Heaven. The studio is putting on its own show, and a lot of fans think that at least one of SEGA's four mystery slots goes to them. There are hints that it might be the long-awaited version of Yakuza Kiwami 3 or new information about Stranger Than Heaven. In either case, people have high hopes.

The long-abandoned Crazy Taxi is the subject of another hot story. SEGA has hinted that they might bring back Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio as modern live-service games, which has caused a range of responses. There could be a lot of hype just because people are nostalgic, but fans are worried about how these beloved classics might be turned into ongoing service games.

Some people see it as a risk—certainly, the memories of the chaos of arcade games are valuable, but live-service systems aren't exactly what players had in mind. Of course, no talk about SEGA would be complete without bringing up Persona 6.

Since Persona 3 Reload just came out and Persona 4 Remake was just shown at Summer Game Fest, it seems like the time for a new mainline game isn't ideal. Still, Persona 6's sudden release would be more important than anything else. Even though it's not possible, fans can't help but dream in the world of game announcements, where anything can happen.

The Tokyo Game Show 2025 takes place from September 25 to September 27, but SEGA probably won't just make news at the show. Before that, there are a lot of events planned, like the reported September Nintendo Direct and the PlayStation State of Play.

SEGA could easily use both of them to show off at least one of these secret projects. People who follow the industry think that the schedule almost promises at least one reveal before TGS starts. This makes September a hectic month for announcements.

Some fans aren't holding out for too much, but SEGA is one of the most talked-about companies going into Tokyo Game Show because of all the things that could happen, from a return of Crazy Taxi to remakes of Yakuza games to the dream scenario of Persona 6.

At the moment, everyone is looking at those four empty spots on SEGA's list. No matter what they are, SEGA has created a lot of buzz and rumors about them for weeks before the show even starts.
