Black Ops 7 Zombies DLC 3 “Toten Reich” Teasers Signal Major Reveal Phase Begins

Curse Mode updates, returning lore threads, and map hints push hype toward late April launch

It has officially begun, with some brand new reveals for DLC 3, Toten Reich, for Black Ops 7 Zombies. Players are being urged to stay tuned and keep notifications turned on to remain up to date with all things Black Ops 7, especially the next major round-based map coming at the end of this month.

As part of the ongoing updates surrounding Zombies content, there are also promotions tied to themed accessories, including a redesign of the classic Juggernaut thumbsticks and an in-game weapon charm that cannot be obtained elsewhere. These are being made available through partner promotions linked in official content descriptions.

One of the biggest changes is that Curse Mode now has public matches in Black Ops 7 Zombies. This means that Curse Mode can now be played on Ashes, Astra, and Paradox Junction, as well as all Survival maps.

The developers have said players have liked public matches in Curse Mode, so the feature will remain live while they work to improve it. A recent update fixed a problem where players couldn't see which relics were active, and more fixes are planned for future patches.

Curse Mode public matches are now live with ongoing improvements

Right now, relics are picked at random based on one of the player's choices, so players never know what they're going to get in each match. The team that makes the game is looking for better ways to handle this system in future updates, but for now, the unpredictability is still part of the experience.

Some players have reported seeing bugs where relics appeared to be active, but their descriptions were hidden. But this seems mostly fixed, since most matches now clearly show active relics in the top-left corner when the game is paused.

There has also been talk about whether a voting system should be put in place before the games start. Some people are worried that players might back out if the chosen challenges are too hard, even though it is technically possible.

One big benefit of cursed public matches is that players can use relics they haven't unlocked yet. This also includes gameplay upgrades like golden armor, ultra rarity, and pack a punch tier 4, which let players try out features they might not be able to access otherwise.

What players are discovering early inside Black Ops Zombie DLC 3 gameplay

This makes the mode feel like a trial, which gives players an idea of what they might want to unlock later. It's still not clear if players can unlock trials for relics that are already in a match but owned by someone else. The community is expected to provide more information on this. As more people play the mode, support for it is expected to grow.

This will help it reach more people in and out of the Zombies community. Even without universal pack-a-punch camo rewards, this mode is a good way for new players to learn how to play this style of game. People are also talking about the long-awaited return of the 1911, which has been confirmed as a reward this season.

It should be here before the fifth week of the Reloaded update, probably in the next week or two. Based on how things usually go, an announcement confirming the weekly reward should come out 24 to 36 hours before the new set of challenges is ready.

DLC 3 marketing confirms a late April release window

The start of DLC 3 marketing means that the map will be out at the end of the month. In the past, this rollout began with a week of teasers featuring pictures, videos, and an intro cutscene. The second week had a full blog post, a gameplay trailer, and a roadmap that led directly to the launch.

The release date is expected to be around April 30 now that marketing has started. There will likely be more teasers this week, and the intro cinematic cutscene should be out soon after. As new content is released, there will be more promotional activity and live reactions across all platforms.

Group 935 returns through new Toten Reich teasers

New story elements have been added to recent social media teasers. These include mentions of Untersturmführer Bartels and Group 935. Along with these hints were wide-angle shots of the Toten Reich map, showing both the front and back.

The graphics show buildings that could be important places, like a spawn point, a bridge, a truck, and the Deadshot perk machine. The clips don't go into great detail, but they do give a better idea of how the map is set up.

There have also been comparisons to the multiplayer map Blitz from Black Ops 6 because the environment is designed similarly, with the placement of objects and terrain. But this doesn't mean the map isn't original, since it is expected to have many unique areas.

Robots, ruins, and underground areas are being teased in new footage

More teasers hint that Toten Reich could be a spiritual successor to Call of the Dead, known for its foggy setting and atmosphere. More footage shows an earthquake that causes an island and its buildings to fall down, leaving the dead in charge of the area.

Based on what was said in earlier blog posts, the Norwegian town on the map was pulled into the Dark Aether. This could be a reference to something that happened in the past or a new story direction. It's still not clear whether the Group 935 references are part of the original timeline or a new version.

The fact that Origins includes robot parts suggests they might be important to gameplay, possibly as part of the environment, traps, or even a boss fight. There are also signs of underground areas, like the appearance of an arsenal machine in a place that hasn't been seen before. The map may not be as big as Ashes, but it should be a lot bigger than Astra and Paradox put together. You can explore both above and below ground.
