Forza Horizon 6 Leak Hints at Japan Setting with Kei Cars

Forza Horizon games have always been big on show, combining the thrill of speed with exploring open worlds. Now, an odd leak has led to rumors that the next game might take place in Japan, which has been one of the most-requested settings in the series' past.
The idea didn't come from Microsoft or Playground Games; it came from somewhere else. Colton Classic, an Australian company that imports cars, made a short Instagram post that said they were involved in scanning kei cars for "the next installation" of Forza Horizon.

The post was quickly removed. Kei cars are a type of small, light Japanese cars that are built under strict government rules. They are admired for their economy, style, and cultural identity. Their presence in a major racing game would strongly suggest a Japanese setting, which is something fans have been begging for since the series started.
The deleted post made things worse by saying that an official member of the Forza Horizon team had flown around the world to get reference material. The company even said that late-model kei cars couldn't be bought in the US, so they had to use digital copies of cars from other countries. Fans who have long dreamed of drifting through the streets of Tokyo or climbing winding mountain passes in the shade of Mount Fuji didn't think this detail was a stroke of luck. It felt more like proof instead.
Even though Microsoft hasn't said anything public yet, the situation points to a bigger event coming up soon. Phil Spencer talked about a bunch of big Xbox 25th anniversary releases at the Xbox Games Showcase earlier this year. He named Fable, Gears of War: E-Day, and "the next Forza." Some people thought this meant Forza Motorsport, but the release date is more likely to be for Playground's next open-world game. If the news is true, Forza Horizon 6 could come out as early as 2026, just in time for Xbox to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
Still not clear is whether the kei car reference means a full regional setting or something smaller, like Forza Horizon 5 stuff that can be downloaded. It's possible, but Colton Classic's now-deleted post used language that pointed to a full sequel, not an expansion.
The thought of Japan as the next location is very important for a series that is known to change with each new movie, from the grand views of Mexico to the colorful landscapes of Britain. With its neon-lit cities, ancient shrines, and dangerous mountain roads, the country could make the most varied and atmospheric Horizon map yet.
But being careful keeps joy in check. Kei cars are very much a part of Japanese society, but they are not only found in Japan. There are thriving groups around these cars in import scenes in Europe, Australia, and even North America. Their appearance in the game might only draw attention to the variety of cars, not prove where they are geographically. Until there is formal word, speculation is just that: a possibility that makes you want to know more.

One thing that is certain is the excitement. Fans are already dreaming about the possibilities on forums and social media: touge races through misty passes, drifting events under glowing lanterns, and the thrill of driving at lightning speed on Tokyo's expressways. Japan is more than just a place in a series that is all about giving you dreamlike escapes behind the wheel. For a long time, this has been a vision come true.
There are rumors that Forza Horizon 6 might be the most big game yet, combining true to life cultures with the series' trademark freedom. No matter if the leak is true or just a smart trick, one thing is certain: the road ahead for Forza Horizon has never felt more exciting.
