Warhorse Studios is moving quickly with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. On May 15, the game's biggest post-launch content yet will be released. Players can look forward to Patch 1.3, a free update full of changes to the game's balance, new features, and community-focused improvements. They can also look forward to Brushes with Death, the game's first DLC, which adds a mysterious, murder-filled questline involving a philosophical painter.

The most important change in Patch 1.3 is the long-awaited addition of horse racing. Now, players can choose between simple horse races and more difficult horse archery challenges. With this new mode, you can race through courses and shoot arrows at targets to earn points while the clock is ticking. The courses can be easier or harder, and there are betting systems and track modifiers that make the game more challenging and fun to play again and again.

Horse races are partly an open world, so you can cut corners and use your knowledge of the terrain to your advantage. As the difficulty goes up, the AI riders become more competitive, and if no one sees you, you can even sneak up on an opponent and take them out. This feature comes with a free questline that pits archery fans against classic racing fans and gives players new benefits and gear based on which side they support.

The update fixes a lot of problems that people had with the way the game was balanced. More money is now carried by merchants, especially those in Kuttenberg. This makes it easier to sell your gear. There is a change in battle: blunt weapons become more valuable, and enemies get better armor and are stronger in battle.

Also, enemy drops of loot are being lowered so that early-game loadouts don't get too powerful. Also, sleeping in someone else's bed without breaking the law will now get you a polite wake-up call instead of being charged with a crime. This is a small but immersive change.

Some mods will not work with Patch 1.3, but Warhorse and Nexus Mods have worked together to make the change as smooth as possible. Modders were told ahead of time, and a new tag makes it easier to find mods that are ready for 1.3. Better support for inventory presets and fixes for localization problems are just two of the improvements that show a dedication to building a strong modding community from the very beginning.

Brushes with Death, the first paid DLC, will also be out on May 15. This story-driven content, which can be bought separately or as part of the Gold Edition, is about a mysterious painter who is crazy about pre-Christian beliefs. This DLC starts early in the game, and it starts soon after you wake up in Troskowitz. It takes you on a journey through ancient pagan shrines, death, and murder.

Because the artist wants to know what people believed before Christianity, you are taken on a journey that has spiritual undertones and possibly supernatural turns. Even though it's not as big as some future expansions, Brushes with Death was made at the same time as the main game and fits right into the story, with locations ranging from Trosky Castle to Kuttenberg.

Early footage shown in a recent dev stream gives the game a tone similar to the Demons of Trosky quest, where strange things may have real-world reasons behind them. This DLC is going to be great if you like murder mysteries with spiritual and unclear historical themes.
