Nintendo Trying To Justify Switch 2's High Price
Switch 2 Price response is so bad, it brings back memories of the Xbox One.

Many were excited about the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, but not everything is perfect. With Mario Kart World costing $80 digitally and $90 in physical form, players were not pleased with the pricing of Switch 2 or any of its titles. The official unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2 was more of a confirmation than a shock because, aside from its functionality, everything had been revealed before.
Some have drawn unflattering comparisons between the Nintendo Switch 2 and the Xbox One. Most gamers aren't happy about something that Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser stated, which reminds them of something someone said a long time ago about the Xbox system line, and makes them want a Nintendo Switch 2. However, it is too soon in its lifecycle for Switch 2 to be compared to Xbox One, due to its price and features.
Seeing how the community reacted to the price of Switch 2, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser explained it to CBC. Bowser claims that Nintendo is aware that the pricing is too high for some players. "We recognize there are some people that may not be able to afford [the Switch 2's] price point," he stated, addressing the concerns of some fans.
We wanted to ensure that users could still access our gaming universe, so we made sure that the other Switch platforms were available. Regardless of the tier into which they are admitted. Although the comment's intention was to reassure Nintendo Switch fans that the console would continue to receive support and games for a bit longer, it brought to mind a comment made by Microsoft executive Don Mattrick just before the Xbox One's launch: "Thankfully, we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity." The name of it is Xbox 360.
Fans have pointed out that the Switch 2 shares some features with the Xbox One and have noted similarities between the two. People have been comparing the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox One despite the fact that the latter isn't an internet console in the traditional sense—something that used to mostly irritate Xbox fans—because of the new camera, game sharing, and game-key cards that don't include games.
It would be unfair to compare the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox One in terms of game sharing since a feature similar to this was introduced in 2004 on the Nintendo DS, allowing gamers to play multiplayer games with friends without owning a copy of the game themselves. Naturally, people are worried about the Nintendo Switch 2, and with the economy in a state of flux and the U.S. tariffs likely driving prices even higher, fans might not be thrilled about shelling out that much money for a new machine.
Regrettably, Switch 2 would likely incur considerably higher tariffs. While not all players were pleased with Bowser's statement, those who can hold off on upgrading for the time being can still enjoy Nintendo Switch games.
