Santa Monica Revealing God of War Remaster Between 15-23 March

Rumors of a remastered bundle of the Greek God of War series began to circulate late last year. According to an outlet, the rumor was that God of War Greek Saga Remaster was being planned to commemorate the franchise's 20th anniversary this year in 2025 and that Santa Monica Studio would be revealed during The Game Awards 2024 in December.

The latter half of this rumor never came through, which led some to believe that the God of War Greek Saga Remaster might be headed to the PS Plus Premium classics library for 2025 instead of being remastered. A trusted source has stated that the highly anticipated remasters of God of War will be announced in a matter of months. The God of War franchise will be 20 years old in March 2025, and the developer Santa Monica Studio could come together with it in a special way for series fans.

Last week, a different rumor said the God of War remasters would finally go official at the February 2025 State of Play, but that did not happen either. Hopes of a God of War Greek Saga Remaster set then fell flat in the God of War fandom, but credible industry insider Jeff Grubb has reignited hope in the potential. In the meantime, on BlueSky, a new thread by Grubb states that the earlier God of War Remaster rumors "Jumped the gun a little bit", and the project is allegedly going to be announced on or around the same date as the soon-to-be-held 20th-anniversary exhibit at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California.

The event has been set to occur between March 15 and March 23, which could mean that the God of War Remaster reveal is less than a month away. Grubb has been accurate about many PlayStation-related rumors in the past, and even major insider Tom Henderson even mentioned recently that the next God of War game could return to Greece and feature a younger Kratos. If Santa Monica Studio is actually gearing up to reveal a remastered God of War series sometime next month, it would be fascinating to know which Greek saga games it would include.

Aside from the three main God of War games, there are some PSP spin-offs and the 2013 prequel God of War: Ascension. The best scenario would be a remastered collection of all six Greek God of War games, but only time will tell if that happens. Or Santa Monica Studio might just remaster the first God of War game and likely make the others playable (God of War: Ascension aside) through the PS Plus Premium classics library.
