Cyberpunk 2077 Guide | 5 Hidden Secrets
Uncover five hidden secrets in Cyberpunk 2077—from dark mysteries to hilarious scams!
Game Guide by Monarch on Mar 07, 2025
Cyberpunk 2077 is packed with hidden details, and over the past few months, you've probably come across many of these connections. By reading shards, you'll notice how seemingly random encounters link to other gigs, scanner hustles, and larger events in the game.
Some references connect to pop culture, while others are just eerie or amusing. Now, let's dive into five hidden secrets and treasures waiting for you to uncover in Cyberpunk 2077.
1. Iron Man Cave
Head into the Southern Badlands, specifically the Rocky Ridge region, about 100 meters south of the melee weapon vendor. There, you'll find a collapsed cave entrance and several Wraiths who met an unfortunate fate.
If you open the Arasaka-labeled crate, you'll learn the story of Thomas Star, a Militech engineer whose convoy was attacked by desert outlaws.
Captured by the Wraiths, Thomas was forced to build weapons for them. Knowing he was doomed, either way, he devised a plan. By Day 5, he had secretly started working on an exoskeleton.
By Day 11, he had begun constructing an iron-clad armor suit. By Day 36, it was fully equipped with flamethrowers and a power supply. The result? Thomas torched the place, collapsed the tunnel, and likely escaped into the desert, later rescued by Militech.
But one question remains—who arranged Thomas' capture in the first place? The Arasaka-labeled crate suggests his kidnapping was part of the ongoing corporate rivalry. Meanwhile, Yorinobu Arasaka might be losing his patience and wondering why his engineers haven't built a similar suit.
As for Thomas Star? Maybe he gathered a team of remarkable people... or just bought a Caliburn, spray-painted it black, and hid in a tunnel somewhere.
2. Fixer Cars
In Southern Japantown, near an Assault in Progress, take out the Tyger Claws guarding a crashed vehicle. Inside the trunk, you'll find Toru Inagaki, a man with a contract on his head. It seems a mercenary was transporting him when the Tygers caught up, killing both the merc and Toru.
Reading the shard on the merc's body reveals a conversation between Seamus Sawicky and fellow driver Mike Martinez. Seamus complains that mercs don't think things through when deciding to deliver targets alive. It's dangerous, pointless, and often ends badly for the drivers—just like it did for him.
The cars come equipped with jammers to prevent tracking, but Seamus forgot to turn his on. Next time you deliver a target alive, instead of finishing the job yourself, spare a thought for the guy in the driver's seat.
3. Creepy Basement Dwellers
Between Solar and Biotechnica Farms, you'll stumble upon an unmarked, heavily guarded building in the Badlands. Inside, you'll find a disturbing tale: Patrick Witwer, the man who lived here, refused to leave despite being overdue for a heart valve replacement. The reason? He had kidnapped a woman named Jane.
As war broke out in 2070, Jane hired a smuggler to escape Night City. But after being abandoned, she tried to make her way back—only to be "rescued" by Patrick. He locked her in his basement, convinced they were meant to be together. Years passed, and Patrick decided she needed "friends," so he kidnapped Tony, another survivor.
By 2075, Patrick's heart valve failed, leaving Jane and Tony trapped, likely starving to death. Even more disturbing? This isn't an isolated case. East of the Badlands, another bunker tells a similar story: a man "saved" a woman, trapped her underground, and refused to let her leave.
She ultimately fought back, but the chemicals she used killed her too. Whether these are just crazy individuals or Biotechnica clones with identical flaws remains a mystery. Either way, the Badlands may not be as safe as you think.
4. Max Jones and the Ex-Vets
In Little China, you'll encounter a story tied to Max Jones, an independent journalist from the Freedom of the Press gig. Max is one of the few truth-seekers exposing corporate corruption—particularly how companies like Militech reclaim cyberware from ex-soldiers and exploit legal loopholes to deny them retirement benefits.
Here, you'll find Hunter Hyland, a former Kendachi soldier preparing to expose the atrocities committed during the Corporate Wars. He was about to go on record about war crimes—like napalming villages with civilians still inside—before realizing his emails with Max had been intercepted.
He left his files behind but didn't escape in time. When you find him, he's already been assassinated, likely by Kendachi mercs.
For another example, head to the swampy Badlands. In a shack, you'll find another veteran who had reached out to Max, thanking him for exposing the truth. Unfortunately, knowing he was next, he rigged his home to explode—taking out anyone who came for him. Stories like these prove that corporations will go to any lengths to silence whistleblowers.
5. The Fake Chicken Farm
For a lighter secret, head to Japantown, near the fast travel point. There, you'll find a crashed blue van with a dead driver, Max Corvin. The reason? His illegal chicken farm scam.
Back in 2063, Night City exterminated all birds due to a bird flu outbreak, banning them from an 18-mile radius.
But Max claimed to have his own real chicken farm, raising birds from black market eggs. He even promised a "long shelf life", though he admitted the meat was "pretty chewy".
His plan? Sell the chickens, take payment up front, and disappear. But when you check the van, you'll see the truth—he was selling rubber chickens. Max's con was simple but hilarious… until it got him killed.
Final Thoughts
Which of these hidden secrets fascinated you the most? The eerie six-year basement imprisonment? The terrifying reality of fixer contracts? Or maybe Thomas Star's Iron Man escape? Keep your eyes open in Night City—there are countless more stories like these waiting to be uncovered.
