The best way to get the best Gear before starting Chapter 2 is the fastest way to get Ore. By completing 2 specific Quests you will get at least 1,000 Ore Nuggets in your first couple of hours of playing.

The Herb Merchant Mission

The first step of this Quest is to go to the Old Mine and get a List for Diego. Once you have gotten a List, go to the New Camp and talk to its leader, Lares. He will grant you a follow-up Mission called A Piece of the Pie in Gothic 1 Remake.

After speaking with Lares, head to the Bar by the lake and find Baal Isidro. After offering him a Beer and exhausting his Dialogue, he will agree to split his stash of Swampweed rolls with you.

You will receive 42 rolls, which you can sell to various Bandits and Mercenaries for 10 to 13 Ore each.

If you plan to join the New Camp, remember that Lares may require a portion of these profits, but you can retain a significant surplus by selling your goods strategically to different Merchants across the Colony.

The Swampweed Harvest

This Mission is a reliable source of 600 Ore Nuggets. Travel to the Swamp Camp and locate the NPCs where various workers are gathered. Speak to Ghorim near these NPCs to accept his replacement Quest.

After dealing with Harlok near the large tree, return to Ghorim to complete the task. This triggers a conversation with Baal Orun, who will provide the Swampweed Harvest Mission.

You need to collect 100 bundles of Swampweed. Speak with Balor in the Jungle to receive 50 bundles, and be sure to pay him 50 Ore to learn that you should sell the harvest to Cipher in the New Camp.

Next, find Viran near the wooden tower in the back of the Jungle. Defeat the Bugs surrounding him, and he will provide the remaining 50 bundles in Gothic 1 Remake.

Once you have all 100 bundles, return to Cipher at the Bar in the New Camp. Trading the full harvest will net you 600 Ore Nuggets instantly.

Additionally, Cipher becomes a primary Trading NPC with a large supply of Ore, allowing you to sell excess items—such as your Scraper Rags—to push your total earnings well beyond 1,000 Ore Nuggets in Gothic 1 Remake.
