Here’s a simple guide on how to defeat Duk

When you fight Duk in The Boneyard during Act One, you need to understand one rule first. You cannot hit him directly. Every direct attack gets dodged. If you try to play this fight like a normal boss, you will lose time and health.

To beat Duk, you must use area damage. Skills that hit tiles instead of targeting him are the key.

Use Area Attacks Only

Single-target attacks do not work well here because Duk dodges them. Instead, use area skills.

Hunter's Bramble Shot is one of the best tools for this fight. It places bramble tiles that deal damage when Duk hops onto them.

The Fighter also works well. Spin hits in a wide arc, which makes it easier to connect even after a dodge. Sucker Punch is useful when Duk jumps close to your bait cat.

Area damage forces Duk to hurt himself while moving.

Set Up a Bait Cat

Pick one cat to act as bait. Place that cat in the bottom left corner of the map. Then surround that area with brambles, traps, or fire.

Fireworks, but they spread fast and can get out of control. Brambles are safer and easier to manage. The goal is to make Duk jump around inside that trapped space.

In this setup, the bait cat stays close while your other cats move back to safety.

If you use a Fighter as bait, you get extra value. Sucker Punch hits Duk when he comes near. Spin increases your chance to land damage even if he dodges first.

Position the Rest of Your Team

While your bait cat holds the corner, move your other cats away from danger.

Do not run too far. Stay at a distance where long-range skills can still reach the area. You are not trying to land direct hits. You want Duk to keep hopping onto bramble tiles.

The Hunter passive Tower Defense is strong in this fight. When Duk moves into range, it triggers a lob shot. This happens after his dodge, so he cannot dodge again. That gives you free damage while he moves.

Deal With Purple Orbs Fast

At one point, Duk will spawn purple orbs.

Destroy them as soon as possible. If you ignore them, they will create fire that spreads across the map. Once the fire grows, it becomes hard to control.

It is better to move your cats into position and take some damage now than deal with a full map of fire later.

Stay focused during this phase. Clear the orbs, then return to your bramble setup.

The Final Blow Matters

The most important moment is when Duk is about to die.

The cat that lands the final hit becomes possessed by Duk. That cat turns into a new threat. Because of this, you should plan who deals the killing blow.

Make sure your weakest cat with the lowest health gets the final hit. Do not let your strongest unit take it.

After Duk dies, the possessed cat no longer has the dodge ability. That makes it easier to damage. If you set up brambles or traps in the bottom left corner earlier, the possessed cat will likely take damage while moving.

Heals Can Be Used as Damage

Area healing skills can also help in this fight.

Duk does not receive healing from your heals, but he can still take damage from certain area effects. You can also use heals to change his movement pattern. When you cast around him, he hops more often. More movement means more bramble damage.

Think of heels as tools for control, not just recovery.

Final Reminders

Before entering the Boneyard boss fight, make sure your team has area-of-effect skills. Direct damage alone will not work.

Set up a bait cat in the corner. Cover the area with brambles. Keep the rest of your team at a safe distance. Clear purple orbs quickly. Control who lands the final hit.

If you manage movement instead of chasing damage, Duk becomes much easier to handle.
