Mewgenics Guide | How to Solve the Throbbing Artery

The Throbbing Artery is located at the very end of the Boneyard area. You will find it after defeating the boss of that zone, but before the game sends you back to the house. When you first see it, it may look like a normal stat or skill check. Many players assume they just need higher stats to pass through it. That is misleading.

The Throbbing Artery is actually part of a midgame quest chain. It acts as a block that prevents you from entering a secret area. No matter how strong your team is, you cannot pass it without the correct quest item. The key item required is called the Putrid Leech.

To solve the artery, you must already have the Putrid Leech in your inventory. You need to carry it with you through the Boneyard run. Once you reach the Throbbing Artery, interact with it while holding the item. This will trigger the event and open the hidden path forward. Without the Putrid Leech, nothing will happen.

How to Get the Putrid Leech

To obtain the Putrid Leech, you must focus on house events. House bosses appear at certain stages of the game, and they are tied to important quest items. The boss you are looking for is Guillotina.

The first time you defeat Guillotina, she drops an item called the Throbbing Gristle. This is part of a different quest and is not what you need for the artery. Many players stop here and think they have completed everything related to her.

However, Guillotina can appear again. The second time you defeat her, she rewards you with the Putrid Leech. This is the item required for the Throbbing Artery quest. After obtaining it, make sure to keep the carrier safe during your run, since some quest items have heavy penalties.

Once you successfully bring the Putrid Leech to the end of the Boneyard and use it on the Throbbing Artery, the secret path will open. This unlocks new content and continues the quest progression.pen the new area.
