One simple way to do that is by finding Furniture Boxes. Many players open one and feel confused about what it actually does. It is not always clear when or how to use it. Understanding this system helps you upgrade your home faster and avoid losing rewards.

How to Find Furniture Boxes

If you are looking for a Furniture Box, you need to pay attention during your runs. These boxes appear on special tiles. They replace the normal skull, chest, or event icons on the map. When you step on one, you receive a Furniture Box instead of starting a fight or random event.

They are rare. You will not see them often. Early in Act One, especially on the normal upper route, they are unlikely to appear. After clearing the alley, start exploring the harder side paths. These routes are more likely to spawn special tiles.

Areas like the Junkyard are more reliable for finding them, though they can appear in other zones too. Choosing tougher paths may feel risky, but if your goal is to improve your house, it is usually worth it.

How Furniture Boxes Work

When you collect a Furniture Box during a run, it is added to your backpack. The item description can be confusing. It mentions bonuses like +8 shield and -5 movement. It also says the box turns into random furniture when you return home.

This makes it sound like you will always get furniture no matter what happens. That is not true.

If you equip the Furniture Box to a cat, it gives a shield. But if that shield breaks, the box is destroyed. When that happens, you lose the reward completely. It will not turn into furniture later. Once it breaks, it is gone.

Because of this, the safest strategy is simple. Do not equip the Furniture Box. Leave it in your backpack and finish the run normally. If the box is still in your inventory when the run ends, it will automatically turn into a random piece of furniture when you return home.

Even if you lose the run while carrying it, you are still safe. The Mystery Man will allow you to claim the Furniture Box afterward, and it will still convert into furniture. This makes holding onto the box very low risk, as long as you do not equip it.

If you want steady home upgrades, focus on finding these boxes and protecting them. Over time, your house will improve, and so will your cats.
