Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Guide | How to Catch Rotom and Unlock Every Rotom Form
Find Rotom near the lighthouse, then use the Rotom Catalog to swap into every appliance form anytime.
Game Guide by Monarch on Feb 25, 2026
Rotom is one of those Pokémon that feels rare even when the Pokedex lists it. It appears in only a few locations, usually near cities, and is not something you see every day. If you want it for your team or for every battle, you can get it done quickly once you know the exact spot and the key item you need.

Where To Find Rotom
Open the map and look toward the area with the lighthouse near Levincia. A small dot on the map can be a good clue, since Rotom could be right around that point. When you reach the spot, look around the base area near the lighthouse. Rotom can be sitting there calmly, so it may not chase you or stand out right away.

How To Catch Rotom
Once you see Rotom, start the encounter and catch it like any other wild Pokémon. If it breaks out, stay patient and keep throwing balls until it is secured. After you catch it, the next step is getting the item that lets you change its form.
Get The Rotom Catalog From The Auction House
To change Rotom into its different forms, you need the Rotom Catalog. One reliable place to get it is the auction area at Port Marinada. It can show up at the Auction House, so check the listings and buy it when it appears. It may also exist somewhere in the world, but the auction location is the known pickup in this route.

How To Change Rotom Into Every Form
After you have both Rotom and the Rotom Catalog, open your bag and find the catalog. Use it once to unlock form changes, then you can swap forms whenever you want. Go to your Key Items, select the Rotom Catalog, and choose the form you want. You can change it multiple times, so you are not locked into one choice.
The catalog lets you turn Rotom into different appliances, each with a new typing and a signature move. You can pick the best option for your team or switch based on the next fight. If you want a fun pick, turning it into a microwave is popular, but any form works as long as it fits what you need.
Rotom Forms You Can Switch Between
With the Rotom Catalog, you can cycle through all the classic appliance forms. You can turn Rotom into Rotom Heat, Rotom Wash, Rotom Frost, Rotom Fan, and Rotom Mow. Each form changes how Rotom performs in battle, so it is worth trying them out and keeping the one that best fits your playstyle.
