Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Guide | How to Farm Shiny Pokémon
A simple shiny-hunting routine that boosts your odds fast with outbreaks, buffs, and quick respawns.

Getting lucky and catching a Shiny Pokémon feels wonderful, especially when it’s a favorite you can show off on your team. In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you can also push your shiny odds much higher, so shining does not have to feel impossible. With the right setup, some hunts can take only minutes instead of hours.
Understand Shiny Odds
The base shine rate in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is 1 in 4096. That is rare, but it improves a lot once you stack the right bonuses. The goal is to add extra “shiny rolls,” because more rolls mean more chances for something shiny to appear.
Use Sparkling Power For A Big Boost
You can eat food that gives buffs, and one of the best is Sparkling Power, which increases your shiny chance. At level 3, this can bring your shiny odds to around 1 in 1024. This is a late-game buff, so it is not something you should expect early.

Farm Mass Outbreaks: The Fast Way
A strong early method is using Outbreaks. These appear on your map and last about 30 minutes in real time, with new ones appearing at different times each day. Outbreaks spawn a huge number of one specific Pokémon, and your shiny odds improve as you defeat more of them. You can battle manually, but Auto Battle is usually faster.
After you defeat 30 outbreak Pokémon, you get an extra shiny roll on future spawns. That pushes the base rate down to about 1 in 2048, or around 1 in 819 if you also have the food buff mentioned earlier.
After you defeat 60 outbreak Pokémon, you gain a third shiny roll, bringing the base rate to about 1 in 1365, or around 1 in 683 with the food buff.

Once you can handle fights, which usually happens around level 20 to 30, you can start outbreak shiny mining. If an outbreak happens in the second zone, which is east of the starting area, the Pokémon could be around level 20, which means it's possible to hunt them early on.
Reset Spawns To Cycle More Pokémon
You can make quick respawns to check a lot of spawns quickly once you have the odds you want. One easy way is to run away until the outbreak Pokémon disappear, then run back to make them appear again. A shiny can show up every time you return.
You can also start a Picnic to cause a despawn and then leave the picnic to start a new restart. This works well when you don't want to go very far but still want to clean things up.

Add Shiny Charm And Egg Farming Options
To get the Shiny Charm, you need to finish the Pokedex. This charm adds two extra rolls, which raises the chances of getting a shiny Pokemon from 1 in 4096 to about 1 in 1360. Because this takes time, breakdowns are often the fastest way to get things done while you work on finishing.
Remember that some Static Encounters are shiny locked, such as Pokémon received from NPCs and the Four Sub-Legendaries, so those are not worth shiny farming.
If you prefer breeding, egg hunting with the Masuda Method can also help by breeding two compatible Pokémon from games in different languages to gain extra shiny rolls and reach around 1 in 683.
