Bad News For XDefiant Fans
Ubisoft has given an update for the upcoming shooter, Xdefiant, and it doesn't look good.

After the indefinite delay on Skulls and Bones, you would think Ubisoft would have learned by now, but alas, it would seem that the developer has announced that its upcoming shooter, XDefiant, has been indefinitely delayed. The reason for the delay has to do with issues that were found in the last round of playtesting. The game is intended to be Ubisoft's Call of Duty competitor, but it's starting to look like this may have been a bigger project than the developer had originally intended despite it being a free-to-play title.
The project seemed incredibly promising with a ton of support from fans, the game even had former Call of Duty developer, Mark Rubin, acting as the game's director and executive producer. Rubin was meant to gather together all of the biggest Tom Clancy franchises and combine them to make a fast-paced action online shooter. Sadly, if it isn't Assassin's Creed, the project is doomed to be delayed or, in many other cases, outright canceled, as we've seen numerous times before. Unfortunately, it seems that history has once again repeated itself, and things don't look good for XDefiant.
From the official XDefiant Twitter account, we have received confirmation that during the most recent public test of the game, numerous issues and inconsistencies needed to be addressed before the game's launch, which was originally planned to be sometime in 2023. While we aren't told what these issues were, the game has been indefinitely delayed, and more news will be given when the game is closer to launch, which might not be soon.
Mark Rubin himself thanked all those who participated in the public test of XDefiant for providing such valuable feedback. Mark then went on to say that one of the issues had to do with player movement and sliding, which many said – 'felt off'. This is probably just the tip of the iceberg of problems, considering the indefinite delay.
As mentioned earlier, XDefiant had originally been given a release window for late Summer 2023, but the game is getting pushed back further and further. A rumor did do its rounds on the internet, saying that the reason for the delay was likely due to the game releasing alongside Season 6 of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. This is definitely sad news for fans who had gotten their hopes up, but once again, this is just another part of a rather concerning pattern that keeps happening with Ubisoft.
