Horizon Online Demo Might Release In 2025

Sony's commitment to releasing major titles every year already shows a solid list of promising games.

Sony has recently announced that starting in the following fiscal year, they will release significant single-player game titles annually. However, Sony has been desperately trying to release a live service game for quite some time. So, a demo release of Sony's next live-service game, Horizon Online, is also a possibility in 2025, adding to the excitement of the franchise's fans. However, the summer of 2027 is also a potential release window for Horizon Online, especially since Sony shelved their live service game, Concord, during that period.

Horizon Online, Demo, Release Date, Aloy, Female Protagonist, MMO, Live Service Game, Guerrilla Game

This backs the theory of a Horizon Online demo release since Guerrilla Games is hiring a Release QA intern with a minimum availability requirement of the first half of 2025. This intern will play a crucial role in the game development process, gaining hands-on experience in testing and refining the game before its release. This information is based on their official website's job page. The game appears to be set for release soon after the intern's term ends.

Maybe Guerrilla Games is targeting The Game Awards even to reveal the project on December 13. They should probably announce it and gather people's feedback ASAP so Sony doesn't have to deal with another Concord dilemma. Now that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered has come out, followed by LEGO Horizon Adventures, apparently, not everyone likes the idea of a remaster and the franchise's current overall status. Guerrilla Games seems overly pushy, attempting to cash in on the older games rather than release a new Horizon game, and the fans are concerned that this might harm the Horizon franchise rather than aid it in reaching its full promise.

As for the other upcoming games from Sony, as of April 1, 2025, we're anticipating the release of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and Ghost of Yōtei in 2025, with Wolverine likely to follow in 2026. Excitingly, recent reports from Jeff Grubb suggest that Bluepoint Games, the studio behind the Demon's Souls Remake, is working on a new intellectual property. And Naughty Dog's next two games, another original IPs, are also on the horizon, possibly in 2025 or 2026. These new IPs have the potential to redefine the gaming landscape, and Sony's commitment to releasing major titles every year is also a reassuring constant.

According to Neil Druckmann, who announced this week, they have been developing this game since 2020. Following the release of The Last of Us Part II, Sony granted him complete creative authority over the game and the announcement process. While they have previously hinted at the possibility of The Last of Us Part III happening, it will probably occur after this; they are increasingly suggesting that this will be a new IP, a project that could potentially redefine gaming narratives and experiences. Given that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End took place four years before The Last of Us Part II, and considering the time required to develop a new IP, we can expect these games to hit the shelves towards the end of 2026.
