PSN Review System Gets a Major Upgrade
PSN review system could end up being better than Steam's.

The review system on PSN has always been a simple thumbs up and rating out of 5 stars, but it seems like that is about to change. Sony is testing a new feature on the PlayStation Store that allows players to write reviews, similar to the system on Steam. While the existing five-star rating system was a step in the right direction, this new feature aims to give players more freedom to share their thoughts on games.
Some Reddit users have reported receiving emails inviting them to review certain games, such as Helldivers 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Resident Evil 4. These emails include a link to a review form on the PlayStation website. Interestingly, these emails were sent to players who purchased physical copies of the games, but only those who bought a digital copy from the PS Store can leave a review.
Although this review system is still in the early testing phase, many players call for Sony to display the number of hours a player has spent on a game alongside their review. This could help combat review bombing from trolls who leave negative feedback without truly engaging with the game. However, adding a playtime counter might pose a challenge for Sony, especially given that the PS5’s playtime tracking feature still has some issues that need fixing.
Changing the review system to something more similar to Steam's could be a great addition. Plus, given Sony keeps the 5-star rating, the review system could turn out to be better than Steam. Hopefully, Sony does not scrap the idea and continues to improve on this, as it would help strengthen the PlayStation online community.
