Cloud Imperium Games has announced that Star Citizen will be free to play on PC from May 22 to June 1.
Star Citizen has been in its alpha phase for several years now, having raised over $280 million in various rounds of funding. While the game is still in development, players will be able to access some of its ambitious features. Players can try out ships from among 10 manufactures on a daily rotating basis. The Hologram hall is also open to view various available and future planned ships.
Star Citizen has some hefty PC requirements for a 11 day trial: 60 GB of hard drive space, 16 GB memory, and recommended 4GB graphics cards and quad core CPU.
Once in-game, players can access test piloting by entering the Bevic Convention Center inside the ArcCrop Plaza.
