Ubisoft Refunding Assassin's Creed Shadows Pre-Orders
Did Ubisoft decide to delay the game after seeing the Ghost of Yōtei trailer?
News by Rayan on Sep 28, 2024
Ubisoft's highly controversial Assassin's Creed Shadows will not be available until 2025, and a new release date of February 14, 2025, has been set for the game. This decision from Ubisoft comes after several controversial debates from the Japanese gaming communities and their lackluster release of Star Wars Outlaws.
Now that the Assassin's Creed Shadows release date has been pushed to 2025 and Ubisoft is still taking pre-orders, what does this entail for those who have already pre-ordered the game?
Ubisoft is refunding the money to those who pre-ordered Assassin's Creed Shadows. The company has clarified that the Collector's Edition pre-orders will remain intact. However, they will be refunding all other editions. This is because the Collector's Editions are virtually sold out.
Even the PlayStation Store only displays the regular edition, not the Gold and Ultimate Editions. Consequently, the game's early access and in-game rewards will no longer be available when the regular version launches on February 14.
In addition, the season pass is no longer available, as the developers are now considering a new strategy for future games. Everyone who pre-orders Assassin's Creed Shadows before this new release date will receive the first expansion for free.
These add-ons often cost about $20, so if you reorder after getting your money back, you essentially get a much bigger bonus. Additionally, this likely signifies that the initial pre-order game content will now be free to all players instead.
Well, the delay in Assassin's Creed Shadows practically meant more material would be in the original game when it launched. They're reworking the game in significant ways, and one major benefit of the delay is that it will now be available on Steam on launch day, alongside Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Game Store. The good news is that all other upcoming Ubisoft games will now be available on Steam on day one, along with other platforms.
We think Ubisoft's current situation might lead them to bankruptcy if Assassin's Creed Shadows fails to deliver. So it's crucial how they salvage this situation and deliver a game that Assassin's Creed will adore.
