How to reach Jarnsmida Pitmines after Story:
To start, it’s best to refer to The Applecore Collectible Guide. Following this guide will naturally lead you to Jarnsmida Pitmines by the end. Here's a quick summary: once you've finished the main story, fast travel to Svartalfheim and head to Aurvangar Wetlands. From the Mystic Gateway, take the Ferry to Sverd Sands. There, you’ll find an elevator that takes you to The Applecore. Navigate through The Applecore to return to Jarnsmida Pitmines. Keep in mind, you won’t be able to fully complete this area during your initial visit, as the Remnants of Asgard collectibles only appear post-story. Backtracking is required to achieve 100% completion.
#1 – Berserker Gravestone (Hind of the Nine Realms – Spear Handle)
After exiting the tunnel from The Applecore, you'll find the Berserker Gravestone right in front of you. To interact with it, you'll need the “Inert Hilt of Skofnung,” a story item that is automatically acquired during Mission 9: The Word of Fate. Activating the gravestone summons two bosses, “Bodvar the Fierce” and “Starolfr the Troublesome,” making for a challenging fight. It’s recommended to be at least Gear Level 7 and consider lowering the difficulty in the gameplay settings. If the fight proves too difficult, you can return later with Gear Level 8 or 9 to make it more manageable.
Start by focusing on the Assassin boss first. Use your most powerful Runic Attacks with all three weapons, and when your health is low, activate Spartan Rage to deal damage while simultaneously restoring health. Ensure you’ve crafted a Resurrection Stone at the blacksmith shop (found under Special Items) to revive yourself if you’re downed. If you die, the Resurrection Stone will still be in your inventory when you respawn.
The second boss has significantly more health, but once the Assassin is defeated, you can concentrate entirely on him. Dodge to the right during his attacks, then counter with quick spear strikes after he misses. Be sure to spam Sonic Arrows for extra damage as you wear him down.
#2 – Artifact (Kvasir’s Poems – Tool and Bang)
Head to the left of the Berserker Gravestone and use your Blades of Chaos to pull the waterway toward you. This action redirects the water to power the crane. After a few seconds, the crane will lift a large stone block to your location. Climb onto the stone block and then throw your Leviathan Axe at the end of the waterway to freeze the water. This stops the crane and causes it to rotate back. Remain on the stone block as it moves.
Once the crane stops, you can hang down from the stone block and leap to the hill behind the crane. You'll find the Artifact waiting there.
#3 – Legendary Chest (Pommels of the Undying Spark – Blades Attachment)
Same place as the Artifact just look at the right side.
#4 – Odin’s Raven
Return to the spot where you climbed onto the crane’s stone block. This time, drop down at the end of the path. You'll notice a wall with wind coming out of it. Throw your spear at it to create a path you can jump across. Once you’re on the other side, look up to spot a raven flying in circles above the water in the center of the area.
To hit the raven, it’s best to keep your aim steady on a single point where the bird consistently passes instead of tracking its movement. Wait for the raven to fly into your reticle and throw your axe just slightly before it reaches the spot.
#5 – Nornir Chest
Take the path to the left of the Raven (don’t slide down the rope across the water just yet). At the end of this path, you’ll find the Nornir chest. To unlock it, you need to light three braziers with runes. Equip the Blades of Chaos and to burn them.
The first brazier is directly to the left of the chest. For the second brazier, drop down to the left and use the grappling hook to leap across to it. After lighting it, use the grappling hook to return. The third brazier is located beneath the moving water wheel. To access it, freeze the water in the channel above by throwing your axe at it, then light the brazier below.
Once all three braziers are burning at the same time, return to the chest to open it.
#6 – Lore (Rune Read – The Pit-Mine)
To the left of where the 2nd brazier is located for the Nornir Chest, you'll find it on the wall.
#7 – Artifact (Things Left Behind – Lofnheid’s Whetstone)
While facing the Nornir Chest, jump across the gap to your right and drop down to a small ledge. Immediately turn left to find a rope. Interact with it and slide down (this requires the Spear, which is unlocked automatically through the story). After sliding down, you’ll arrive at a beach where the Artifact, glowing purple, is on the ground.
Additionally, you can burn the red vines in this area. Shoot a purple arrow at the vines and then use the Blades of Chaos to ignite them. Doing so will reveal a hidden Mystic Gateway.
#8 – Remnants of Asgard
From the location of the Artifact, climb up the golden chain. Once at the top, eliminate all the Asgard enemies in the area. These enemies only appear after completing the main story, so you’ll need to backtrack here once the story is finished. After defeating all the enemies, a popup will appear in the top left corner, confirming that the area is complete. Don’t forget to open the red Remnant Reward Chest here to collect materials and Hacksilver.
