The Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways DLC is a set of riddles that Ada Wong must solve throughout her quest. One of these riddles is in Chapter 2, when Ada discovers a problem lock that she must open using taps of the applicable symbols. 

This riddle is a spin-off of the symbol riddles Leon must complete in the regular game. In order to open it, you must find three various markers hidden on the cliff walkway. This guide will instruct you on where to find each of the marks and how to unlock the door correctly.

Where to Find Cliff Markings

As you progress in Chapter 2, Ada will cross a bridge to a farm that is home to a windmill. Shortly after that, she will use her grappling hook to walk across a gorge to a cliff path that leads to the chapel. Before she reaches the church, she will approach a problem lock that she must input symbols to move forward. The symbols are hidden in various areas around there.

The first of these marks is easy to locate, and it is just to the right of the problem lock. It has two thin crescent symbols that each have a dot on one side of each symbol. Because it is just to the side of the problem mechanism, this mark is a great place to start to work on the riddle.

The second mark is a bit harder to spot

Turn to the right of the first mark and look up to the cliff cliffs to the left. The mark is near a point of grappling that Ada can use to double around to the cliffs. The symbol is a thin crescent at the top, with a small triangle pointing up below it. Because it is higher up, players will need to adjust their camera view in order to be able to view it correctly.

The third and last mark is looking down instead of up. After doubling around to cliff walls, take a close look at the platform that you stand on. Part of the mark is visible below Ada, and the rest of the design is on platforms below it that are lower in position. Move a little to be able to view the entire symbol, which is three twisted threads that cross over each other in the middle.

Solving the Cliff Puzzle

Return to the puzzle mechanism in front of the blocked doorway after you've found all three of the marks. To open it, use the symbols in the correct order. Symbols should be input in the following order:

• The first symbol is two thin crescent shapes with a dot on each side.
• The second symbol is a thin crescent at the top and a triangle pointing up below it.
• The third symbol is three twisted threads that cross over each other in the middle.

The door unlocks after you touch the symbols on the mechanism correctly, allowing Ada to move forward to the chapel in the canyon.

Tips for Solving the Puzzles

• Adjust your camera position: Some of the symbols are difficult to find at a glance. Pan around to get to a position to view the entire symbol. 
• Look for landmarks: The second symbol is next to a grappling point, making it easy to find if you look closely at the cliffs.
• Commit the symbols to memory: As you need to get back to the problem mechanism to input the solution, having each symbol's design in memory will allow you to navigate around the challenge more quickly.
