The best method of becoming rich in Windrose is unearthing treasure, but you must know how to dig, and where to find it. There is no way that you can use your hands to locate these chests. You must have the proper equipment and a means of reading the tips that other tourists have left.
This guide will not only teach you how to construct your own digging tool, but will also take you to the locations where the gold and provisions are buried in the ground.

How to Get a Shovel
The first thing you need to do is to make a Shovel at your Workbench before you can get started digging. It will require 3 Copper Ingots, and 10 pieces of Wood. You must have a Stone Pickaxe if you are new to mine Copper Ore in the Copper Cave. You must also make of Clay, Wood, and Stone a Charcoal Kiln and a Smelting Furnace. As soon as you melt the ore into ingots, the recipe of the Shovel will appear. When you get the tool, you have to choose the Dig option on the menu so that you can open the chests.
The First Secret Chest
The former is one treasure you are likely to find; it is a portion of the mission of the Fifteen Men on a Dead Man's Chest. On the first island go to the Pirate Remains and find a boat. The quest will begin with a Blurry Sketch of the Island that you will find inside a Decrepit Chest.

Go Northwestward with the marker to a spot of dirt, around which are four Skeletons. Take care when you dig here, it is a trap. When you touch the chest four Drowned enemies will attack. In case you should conquer them you may take your Guinea and Silver Ingots.
Finding Exquemelin's Treasures
Other riches are associated with a man called Alexandre Exquemelin. His notes are in various Traveler Camps on the islands. These chests are in close proximity to a tree with a red rag. The first one, go to the camp in the southwest, and find the Twist of Fancy note. West is a white tree with a red rag and dig on one side to get random loot, such as Homemade Gunpowder and Healing Potions.
The third treasure, find on a later island, is the A Hat Worth Boarding For note. To find the items, such as the Gold Temple Jug, look northward and excavate on the northwest side where you see the marked tree.

Following Crew Maps of Blackbeard
After leaving the starting island, its possible to find maps inside Blackbeard Pirate Camps. The maps have three maps that lead to distinct stashes. The Blackbeard Crew's First Map can be located in a camp to the North West of the third island. The Blackbeard Crew's Second Map is the inside of an Ancient Ruins outpost, though you have to kill Lieutenants and Musketeers to obtain keys to the chests.
It is a tent chest of a shipwreck with the Blackbeard Crew's Third Map. These maps will put an X on your world map. Upon arriving at the point, you will find a Grave or a Skeleton in the dirt, so you can see where to dig where Piastre, Silver Ingots, and Blackbeard Style Books are to be found.
