The first official details on the next expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 were shown off at the end of this Night City Wire special. After being announced by Game Director Gabe Amatangelo, the next expansion's name was revealed to be Phantom Liberty in a sneak look clip. Amatangelo has stated that Phantom Liberty will offer a whole new group of people for V to interact with a brand new part of Night City.

This Night City Wire special was chock-full of information before the announcement of Phantom Liberty, including details about the game and the upcoming Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which is based in the setting of Cyberpunk 2077 and premieres on September 13th. Anime creator and interviewee Bartosz Sztybor sat down to talk about the show's background, topics, characters, and more during a special part devoted to the anime. The famed Japanese animation company responsible for bringing the anime's setting to life, Studio Trigger, was a major inspiration for him, and he discussed their role, as well as the anime's ties to Cyberpunk 2077 and other topics.

The newest update for Cyberpunk 2077, the Edgerunners Update (also known as Patch 1.6), was also discussed in further depth. This update adds anime-inspired equipment to the game. The anime's protagonist, David Martinez, will be able to lend his jacket to players, and they'll also get to use a shotgun that another character in the show carries. The update adds a slew of new features, including a clothing transmog system, cross-platform advancement, playable Roach Race minigame arcade machines, and more, as well as several goods inspired by the Edgerunners.

The release date for PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia versions of Phantom Liberty is set for 2023. Keanu Reeves, who played renegade rockerboy Johnny Silverhand, confirmed in a video message that he will be returning to the character in the sequel, Phantom Liberty, which was shown after the trailer.
