FromSoftware Reportedly Rejected Over 10 Bloodborne Remake and Sequel Pitches
Former PlayStation developer claims multiple studios pitched Bloodborne projects but were turned down by FromSoftware.

A new piece of information from a former PlayStation developer about the Bloodborne situation has come to light. This seems to prove that FromSoftware does not want anyone to do anything with Bloodborne. The developer says that more than ten companies have tried to make projects based on the popular game, but they have all been turned down.
These projects include remakes, sequels, and spin-offs. This backs up what other reports have said, which is that FromSoftware makes the final choice, even if there is interest and approval from other places.

There were rumors going around recently that Bluepoint Games had proposed a remake of Bloodborne.
Reports say that Sony agreed to the idea, which shows that there was backing within the company to bring back the famous PlayStation-only game. But it was said that FromSoftware was the one who didn't want it to happen.
Now that a former PlayStation developer has said that ten or more studios, including his own, have pitched ideas related to Bloodborne but been turned down, the trend seems to be clear. FromSoftware is not going to let anyone move forward with Bloodborne without its permission. This message is becoming more and more clear.
The question of who owns the intellectual property is what makes this case so interesting. You might think that FromSoftware owns the Bloodborne IP, but it doesn't. Since Sony owns the Bloodborne IP, the company can officially approve projects that are related to it.
Sony might be able to approve a remake, sequel, or spin-off without needing approval from anyone else. On the other hand, what we see is a choice to accept FromSoftware's position. Sony doesn't want to move forward without the studio's permission, even though they have the legal power to do so.
This tells us a lot about how Sony and FromSoftware work together.
Even though contracts and ownership are important in business, creative power and respect for each other are still very important. Sony clearly values its relationship with FromSoftware and knows how important it is to keep Bloodborne's artistic vision alive. Sony doesn't seem to want to rush a project into development just because it can. Instead, it seems happy to wait.
This could be both comforting and frustrating for fans. On the one hand, it's good that Bloodborne isn't being given to just anyone. The fact that more than one studio is interested shows how important and sought-after the franchise still is. It can feel even longer to wait when you know that more than ten pitches have been turned down.

People are willing to pay. There are ideas. The cameras are in that spot. But nothing moves forward without FromSoftware's help. We do think that Bloodborne will have more to offer in the future. It's hard to think that a title with so many positive reviews and cultural significance will never be played again.
It doesn't look like it will happen any time soon, though. A trip back to Yharnam is likely to happen because Hidetaka Miyazaki wants to do so. Sony looks like it's ready to be calm and wait for that phone call.
Until then, Bloodborne will be in a unique situation in the industry: it is fully owned by Sony, fans and developers alike want it a lot, but FromSoftware's decision has creatively locked it away.
For now, we have proof that the silence is not because other companies are not interested, but because the original creators set a firm ceiling. For those who want a remake or follow-up soon, it looks like they will have to wait and see when FromSoftware thinks it is time.
