You can check the fertility of your current island at the bottom left of the screen near the mini map. This panel displays the resources available on that island in Anno 117: Pax Romana.

One island may provide Mackerel, Lavender, Grapes, Oysters, and Iron, while another may offer Resin, Olives, Flax, Iron, and Gold. Fertility represents overall resource availability rather than only the crops that can be grown.

Province Map Overview

You can also view the fertility of any island you have discovered by opening the Province Map. This allows you to plan expansion and decide which islands to settle based on the resources they support.

Fertility Requirements

Not all resources require fertility. You can place Oat or Hemp farms on any island without restriction. If a resource does require a specific fertility, you must plan around it by settling islands that support that resource or by trading for it.

Lavender is used in the Soap production chain and requires a fertility found on certain islands in Latium. You can always confirm fertility requirements by checking a building’s tooltip in Anno 117: Pax Romana.
