Alone in the Dark Guide | X-Ray Examination Puzzle

In Chapter 4 of Alone in the Dark, you will encounter a challenging X-Ray Examination puzzle in the Medical Ward. Solving this puzzle is required for the progression forward to Chapter 5, and without solving it, you won’t also be able to progress the story any further in this chapter. This guide will show you how to solve the puzzle.

Step 1: Gather the Necessary Items

Before attempting the challenge, gather two X-ray slides and two fuses from the Medical Ward:

• Radiograph #1: Found in the Quarantine Room.
• Radiograph #2 is located in the laboratory.
• Fuse #1 is also in the laboratory.
• Fuse #2: Inside the Surgery Room, which requires a key from the X-ray room. 

Step 2: Restore power

• With the fuses in hand, proceed to the breaker box next to the X-ray display in the X-ray room.
• Insert Fuses: Place both fuses in the breaker box.
• Activate Breakers: Pull the breaker levers.  If any levers reverse, keep working from left to right until all are engaged.

Now, concentrate on developing the entire mental image:

Select the correct slides:  Select three of the five accessible slides:

• Bottom Piece: The only slide that shows both hemispheres; position it at the bottom.
• Left Hemisphere: A smaller slide for the left side.
• Right hemisphere: A smaller slide for the right side.

Position and Rotate Slides

Bottom Slide: Rotate so that any labels or distinguishing marks are at the bottom.

Left and Right Slides: Rotate to line with the appropriate sides of the bottom slide, ensuring that the brain image does not overlap.

The game allows for some flexibility in alignment; if the slides are appropriately positioned, the puzzle will complete automatically, showing an image of a brain with a central tumor.
