'Meaning of the blade' is one of the main quests in Assassin's Creed Shadows, where you are confronted with Hanzo and will be given a choice to either spare or kill him after he has confessed the truth to Naoe about how he has betrayed Naoe's mother.

Kill Hanzo

If you choose to kill Hanzo in Assassin's Creed Shadows, the game will start a boss fight. After you've defeated him in the boss fight, Naoe won't be able to kill him. Instead, she forgives Hanzo, and he simply leaves.

Spare Hanzo

If you choose to spare Hanzo, he'll team up with Naoe and help her find her mother in later game missions.

Since he'll live either way, killing or sparing Hanzo will not make any difference in Assassin's Creed Shadows. If you want to skip the hassle of the boss fight and get his help, you can choose to spare him.
