Avowed Guide | SKAEN Totem Piece Locations

Obsidian Entertainment is well known within the realm of RPGs, and Avowed, an action role-playing title under the banner of Xbox Game Studios, is their most recent ambitious project.

This guide will provide you with the locations for all seven pieces of the SKAEN God Totem in Avowed, found in the Emerald Stair region. Collecting these pieces allows the totem to be set up at your camp, granting you six possible passive bonuses. 

The guide shows you a specific route for you to take each piece, with some backtracking and main quest involvement required.

The Schemer's Offering (Base)

Your journey begins at the Wildwoods Plateau party camp on the western ridge of the Wildwoods. From here, you should head north across the Godless Bridge and then west to a ruined tower wrapped in giant roots. 

You will then see that you have to climb the ledges and stairs to reach the top platform, where the SKAEN Shrine is located. The base of your totem, known as The Schemer's Offering, is found here, marked by a skull mounted on it. You are required to attach this base to the other six pieces.

Obsidian Prayer Beads

The Obsidian Prayer Beads is located in the Delemgan Glade, not far from where you found the totem base. If you have completed the main quest in Emerald Stair, this area may already be familiar to you. You should proceed by crossing the crumbling root-covered bridge, watching for holes, and following the right path as it becomes more and more enclosed. 

Try to find a ramp leading up to a root-covered path, then jump up to a balcony.

You will find the Obsidian Prayer Beads here, granting you the bonus of critical hits dealing with high poison accumulation when your SKAEN totem is active.

Idol of Covert Plots 

To find your next piece, the Idol of Covert Plots, you would need to backtrack past the SKAEN Shrine and toward the Grim Wetlands. You should follow the cliff's edge until a small chapel at Swamp level comes into your view. The chapel doors you come across are barred, so head into the infested camp on the cliff above. 

You can clear the camp if you deem it necessary, then hop across a broken bridge to enter the chapel. The Idol of Covert Plots is tucked next to a statue, granting you a bonus of +2 Constitution and +2 Dexterity when active. You can also find a unique item west of the infested camp in the ruins.

Sacrificial Dagger

You will find that the Sacrificial Dagger is located in the Abandoned Farms northeast of the river in the Grim Wetlands. There is no need for you to enter any houses; the dagger is pinned to a barricaded door on the northeasternmost building. 

The Sacrificial Dagger granted the bonus of Second Wind, casting Flurry of Blows, an ability you would typically find at the bottom of the Ranger skill tree. 

Idol of Violent Rebellion

You will find the Idol of Violent Rebellion at the Ranger Headquarters. From the entrance, you should head to the right and climb the tower using a ladder on the eastern side.

You will then need to parkour up the tower, jumping across platforms and climbing ladders until you reach a balcony with a stack of crates. 

The Idol of Violent Rebellion is hidden among the crates behind the beacon, granting increased damage against skull enemies (those out-ranking your gear quality). A nearby chest contains Adra, so be sure to loot it.

Idol of Secret Hatred

You will find that the Idol of Secret Hatred is located in the Ancient Grotto. From the River Fork Beacon, you should head up the spiral stairs in the Godless ruins and follow the canyon's edge to the Grotto entrance. Once you are inside, take the southeastern stairs into a room with hazardous water. 

You should then jump across rocks to a balcony, burn away brambles, and follow the green glow into a passage. The Idol of Secret Hatred will be under the skeletal remains of an important figure, granting a 25% damage increase against unaware enemies, making it ideal for Stealth builds.

Effigy Necklace

For your final piece, the Effigy Necklace will be locked behind the main story quest, "Ancient Soil" in Emerald Stair. During the quest, you should head to Naku Tadek, south of the Ancient Grotto. You must then enter the dungeon and descend the spiral stairs. 

When you are at the T-junction, take a left and activate the essence generator door. Once inside, you are to create a platform in the watery pool using frost; you should then climb the roots to the upper level. 

You will find the Effigy Necklace on a stone table next to a dagger. Its effect increases damage by 20% of the original damage that is received after taking damage from an enemy, stacking with the Retribution ability from the Warrior skill tree. 

Once you have collected all seven pieces, you may assemble the SKAEN God Totem at your camp, providing powerful bonuses and lore about SKAEN. This guide will ensure that you have a straightforward path to collecting all pieces and enhancing gameplay with the totem's effects.
