Metaphor: ReFantazio | Follower Guide – Catherina

Metaphor: ReFantazio is out, and it's amazing the game inherits or otherwise builds on many mechanics from Persona and SMT. One such mechanic is the companion system, or as the game calls it, Followers. Followers are your natural companions, who you fight and spend time with, and who let you give some benefits for doing so. In this guide, you will get an overview of Catherina Grann.

Catherina speaks to you when you get the ability to explore dungeons. She gives you a side-quest, ‘A Friend in Need.’ After completing, her story begins. Her progression is staggered and tied to the main story as well.

Catherina Rank Progression

• Rank 1: Complete ‘A Friend in Need,’ Quest.
• Rank 2: Respond with the following when prompted –
  • You too
  • I didn’t know you did either.
  • That’s not a bad idea.
  • I can’t say yet.
• Rank 3: Respond with the following when prompted –
  • Let’s save them too.
• Rank 4: Respond with the following when prompted –
  • No, it’s not.
  • We’ll find better ways.
  • For both of us.
• Rank 5: After you reach Altabury. Respond with the following when prompted –
  • You still can
  • You don’t need to ask.
• Rank 6: You need to have Tolerance level 5. Respond with the following when prompted –
  • Be calm.
  • It was dicey for a second.
  • We can work on that.
• Rank 7: Respond with the following when prompted –
  • Glad you’ve realized.
  • I sure did.
• Rank 8: Respond with the following when prompted –
  • I’ll try to live up to your expectations.
  • You may be right.

Catherina Rank Rewards

• Rank 1: You have access to the Brawler.
• Rank 2: Reduces the MAG cost of studying the Brawler.
• Rank 3: Increases the bounty rewards in each city’s Recruitment Center.
• Rank 4: Increases the skill inheritance slot for Brawler to 2.
• Rank 5: Significantly reduces MAG cost for studying Berserker. You can also see the locations of items in unexplored areas of the dungeon.
• Rank 6: Increases the skill inheritance slot for Brawlers to 3. Reduces the prices at each city’s general store.
• Rank 7: Displays the location of treasure chests in unexplored areas. Catherina will also help the party in certain dungeons.
• Rank 8: Increases the skill inheritance slot for Brawler to 4. You now have access to the Martial Artist.
