Ubisoft Hinted Assassin's Creed Shadows Heading to Switch 2
Ubisoft teases new console releases for Shadows as Switch 2 leaks continue to gain traction.

People are getting more and more excited about Nintendo's next-generation console, and Ubisoft may have just added a big fuel to the fire. During a recent earnings call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that Assassin's Creed Shadows, the newest game in the popular stealth-action series, will be getting "additional versions" for other platforms. This has led to rumors that the game will eventually be ported to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Along with the comments came an important announcement: Assassin's Creed Shadows has now surpassed 5 million players. Guillemot praised the game's strong start and confirmed that Claws of Awaji, a major post-launch expansion that will add 10 hours of gameplay, will come out before October.

However, what made him stand out was the way he talked about the future of the game. "We are adding more machines before the end of the quarter," Guillemot said. "We also have new versions coming to other machines".
Fans and people who work there quickly made the connection. When Guillemot was directly asked if Nintendo Switch 2 would be coming out, he carefully sidestepped the question by saying that Ubisoft hasn't officially confirmed which games it plans to bring to Nintendo's new console. Together, that diplomatic move and earlier leaks make a very clear picture.
Earlier this year, the European Video Game Ratings Board (PEGI) put Assassin's Creed Shadows on their website and listed "Nintendo Switch 2" as a platform that could play it. The listing was taken down quickly, but not before fans caught a picture of the proof.
Speculations grew that Assassin's Creed Shadows be coming to Switch 2. Based on Ubisoft's hints and the PEGI listing, this prediction seems more and more likely to be true.
What's the holdup? Why hasn't Ubisoft made the big announcement yet?
Anyone who has watched a lot of Nintendo shows knows that Nintendo likes to keep things secret. Most of the time, big third-party announcements for Nintendo platforms are saved for big events like Nintendo Direct. This is probably why Ubisoft doesn't want to spill the beans. Nintendo usually likes to show off big third-party games during its own showcases so that they get the most attention.
And the times work out. Fans are hoping that Assassin's Creed Shadows will be shown off during the Nintendo Direct that is said to be happening in late July. If not, the next chance could be a September Direct, which is another common time for big announcements. It seems more likely than not that Nintendo is keeping its biggest surprises for its own stage since third-party announcements have been scarce this summer.

For now, Guillemot's words are enough to make us think that Assassin's Creed Shadows will be coming to the Switch 2. All the hints about the platform, the growth, and the smartly avoided questions point to a big announcement that's just waiting for the right time.
Watch out. Even though Nintendo hasn't said for sure, Ubisoft's hints make it seem like it will only be a matter of time before Shadows makes its way to the Switch 2.
