Finding or even wanting to play in easier lobbies can be considered a controversial decision in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, especially when you consider how skill-based matchmaking worked over the previous years.
However, this year‘s matchmaking works kind of differently, and there’s been a gradual shift that doesn’t emphasize strict skill-based matchmaking, which can be seen as a good or bad depending on your taste.
There a few methods that can be used to make the lobbies much easier, to bring back the feeling of old Call of Duty lobbies. This guide will explain how.
At launch, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 features two matchmaking categories — Standard and Open.

Standard puts an emphasis on strict skill-based matchmaking, which has been implemented over the years, whereas Open isn’t that stingy when it comes to lobbies, making it an ideal way to look for easier lobbies, especially when paired with the following methods.
Using a VPN in regions with a lower player density or selecting a region where the time of the day happens to be the most inactive does end up giving you easier lobbies. The only catch is that good VPNs do tend to require you purchasing them.
Another method is by letting your duo or a friend with a lower K/D host. This makes the lobby easier as the game only emphasizes the host's skill base and assigns lobbies catered to them.
One thing that Black Ops 7 does differently compared to other versions is that lobbies don’t get disbanded this time around. Allowing you to repeatedly play in the same lobby after finding one according to your skill preference, after lobby surfing.
You could also always use the classic lobby surfing method, load into various matches, check the Prestige rank of your enemies, and avoid playing in lobbies with players of higher levels. It’s a simple but effective method.
These are a few common methods that you could incorporate into your lobby in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
