Here's a guide on how to increase reputation in Windrose.

In Windrose, various groups have the seas and they carry the finest gear and supplies under a reputation system. You begin with each group on the first level and you have to prove yourself before the shopkeepers will cash in their best stuff to you. Each time you assist a group, your reputation with them increases but your progress does not transfer to the other groups.

This is a guide on how to obtain the things that you require in order to rank up and the location where you can collect them to unlock the best equipment to use during your journey.

Factions and Reputation: What is this?

Reputation is an indicator of the degree of trust which a particular group places in you. There are four main groups: the People of Tortuga, the Rogue Buccaneers, the Smugglers of Port Royal, and the Brethren of the Coast. To increase your score, you have to carry special items to a Bounty Agent in one of their bases.

The Provisioner of each group sells new gear at a certain level. As long as your points remain with the group you hand them over to, it is advisable to visit all the shops before you exhaust your points so that you can see what you need most.

Gathering Insignia and Letters of Favor

You need two types of items to increase your standing. The insignias are the most widespread and they have various levels. A Newhand Insignia earns you 1 point and a Deckhand Insignia earns you 4. You score 20 points with a Veteran Insignia, and 80 points with an Old Salt Insignia.

There is also a Letter of Favor that will earn you 10 points. These letters are quite useful at the beginning as you get a lot of points at a time.

What to do to gain Reputation Items

You can only acquire Insignias by engaging the pirates in a battle either on sea or on land. The low-level versions are normally dropped by regular sailors, but harder foes such as a Lieutenant or a Musketeer will drop the rare ones. These items can also be found by sinking ships. In order to obtain a Letter of Favor, you are to fulfill tasks of a certain group.

To illustrate this, completing the Buccaneers side quest will award you 5 letters and the Catastrophe's Aftermath mission will award you 10 letters. These missions are the most expedited means of increasing your reputation, as you begin.

Seeing Bases and Bounty Agents

The first group of Bounty Agents can be located after taking the main story to Tortuga. Behind each of the agents is a Provisioner of his group. Each faction has also a Main Base that is located somewhere in the world where they can accept your items. When you discover a base, a Fast Travel camp will allow you to revisit that base anytime you desire.

There is also a Buyer of these bases whereby items such as a Dodo Head or Medicine will be exchanged with Piastre and Guinea. You may use this money to purchase the rewards which you earned with your reputation.
