Silent Hill 2 Guide | How to Solve Moth Puzzle

The Moth Puzzle in the Silent Hill 2 remake is one of the million puzzles you encounter in the game. This particular puzzle you encounter while trying to solve for another puzzle – the Clock Puzzle. This guide, in particular, will show you how you can solve the Moth Puzzle.

Blue Creek Apartment's Room 202 houses the Moth Puzzle. The room has several moth displays with a variety of clues regarding the code required for opening the locked door. You can identify the door of Room 202 as it has the letter “M” on it. You’ll find the door to be locked; to unlock the door, you’ll need to place the minute hand at 2 o’clock. A loud sound plays once the minute hand is placed and the door unlocks.

Once you enter the room, you’ll need to look for all the moths; upon observing the moths, you’ll need to look out for certain details. It has symbols on each of its wings: an eye, a skull, and a moon; pay close attention to each of them. The count of all these symbols on the moths will give you clues for the finding of the combination lock puzzle. I suggest you write down the number of symbols you find on each moth so that you do not have to investigate each more than once.

The specific number for each symbol will vary depending on the puzzle difficulty you selected for the game, and the writings can also be difficult to decipher.

For light, the code is 5,8,2

For standard, the code is 3,7,3

For hard, the code is 5,2,2

Second Hand is in the bedroom through which you enter using the combination lock on Room 202; to get it, you’ll need to reach into a small hole in the wall that has green goo dripping down it and grab it.
