The challenge in this stage is to prevent the enemy’s stone barrage and earn the Shadow Runner as a reward. Compared to other mounts like Red Hare or Hex Mark, Shadow Runner is easier to acquire.

Begin by heading to the northeastern base to stop the fire arrow volley targeting Cao Cao. After securing this area, reinforcements led by Hu Zhen will arrive from the southeast. Eliminate him quickly if possible.

To prevent the stone barrage, ensure the central southern base remains under your control. If reinforcements from Zhang Xiu’s forces arrive during your fight with Hu Zhen, abandon him temporarily and rush to defend the southern base—Clear Zhang Xiu’s forces to stop the stone barrage from initiating.

Once the central southern base is secure, return to finish off Hu Zhen. Afterward, you can proceed as desired—whether rescuing Dian Wei or focusing on clearing the castle. Make sure Cao Cao escapes safely to complete the mission.
