Konami triumphantly returned with the release of Silent Hill 2, a remake of their iconic horror game. This game is infamous for its unusual puzzles, which may be time-consuming and irritating. The remake of Silent Hill 2 is no different. This guide will show you how you can solve the Music Box Puzzle.

After rowing his boat for quite a while, James will find himself in front of the Lakeview Hotel. Although the area seems to be safe compared to the rest of the game, it encompasses numerous enemies on each of its floors.

Inside the Lakeview Hotel Lobby lies a Music Box missing several components. The Music Box Puzzle is the main Puzzle in the area and requires a detailed search of the entire hotel and solving several difficult puzzles.

To complete the puzzle, you’ll need to find a few figurines. Below, we’ve listed them and where you can find them.

How to Find the Snow White Figurine

The Snow-White Figurine can be found after completing the Mirror Puzzle in Room 202. We have a guide below that can show you how:

Once you obtain the Sunrise Wing Key in the Utility Room on the first floor, you can open the double doors of the second floor of the Lakeview Hotel. Enter the Cloakroom and open the hall door, where you’ll find a large room of mannequins; be careful, as there will be enemies there. Once you are done kicking butt, pick up the Room 202 Key from the couch on the left and proceed to the edge of the room, where you’ll find an Apple.

Head inside Room 202 with the Key and look for the Broken Mirror. Proceed to the back of the bed and look at the floor – you’ll find a broken mirror fragment. Pick it up and interact with the mirror.

Now, arrange all the mirror pieces to fix the mirror. You can check the Mirror Puzzle Guide to view the arrangement. After you place the Apple on the plate, the puzzle will be solved (you can also use the Rotten Apple in front of the entrance of the Lakeview Hotel).

When you solve the puzzle, your work in the room is done. Exit the room to find the Snow White Figurine.

How to Find the Cinderella Figurine

The Cinderella Figurine can be found inside the Fireplace of the Conference Room in the Lakeview Hotel. We have a guide below that can show you how:

The fireplace is located on the third floor of the Lakeview Hotel. You’ll need two keys to access it—the fireplace Key and the Room 107 Key. The Room 107 Key can be found in the Conference Room, which also has the fireplace; the key is taped to a clipboard with a note, which is on top of the fireplace.

Next, you’ll need the fireplace key. Go to Room 107. The fireplace key is inside the Gazebo in the Garden outside the room. You will encounter a few enemies there, so stay alert. You’ll find the key on top of a mop bucket. After collecting the Fireplace Key, head back to the Conference Room.

Lastly, to get your hands on the Cinderella Figurine, open the fireplace using the Fireplace Key.

How to get the Little Mermaid Figurine

Once you have collected all the Gemstones, it’s time to head to the Gem Box. The Gem Box is located in the Employee Section on the first floor of the Lakeview Hotel inside the Manager’s Office. To complete the Gemstone Puzzle, you will need to match the box to the painting. Each stone can move one of the pieces in the center. Follow the image below to complete the Puzzle.

After completing the puzzle, you’ll receive a piece of paper with code 7414; go to the Break Room on the same floor to use the code to open the safe. Upon opening the safe, you’ll receive a Basement Key, which you can use to get the Little Mermaid Figurine for the Music Box Puzzle and a Video Tape.

Using the Basement Key, head to the Basement. You’ll need to make your way inside the Maintenance Room. Watch out, as there are going to be enemies. Once you’re in the Maintenance Room, retrieve the Pump Valve; using the Pump Valve, seal the gas leak, and you can then access the Boiler Room.

After entering the Boiler Room, you’ll get access to the Venus Tears Bar Key. Using the Key to access the Bar through the Kitchen, collect the previously used Pump Valve to seal the gas leak once again. Once inside the Bar, you’ll see a jukebox.

You can collect the Mermaid Figure from in front of the jukebox.

How to Complete the Music Box Puzzle

After getting your hands on all three of the figurines, you’ll need to access the Music Box Puzzle using the Ornamental Key. Once you use the key, it reveals the three slots that you can put the Figurines in, and it also has four plates that you can move. Place the Little Mermaid Figurine in the top slot, the Snow White Figurine in the slot to the left, and lastly, the Cinderella Figurine to the right. Rotate and arrange each disc correctly so they follow the course the discs give.

You will need to turn the keys several times according to the riddles to unlock the doors, provided that you have placed the figurines and disc in the correct positions. The number of times you will have to rotate each key will vary with the puzzle difficulty you’ve set, as the riddles will be different.

The Riddle You Get for Light Difficulty:

“Once she couldn't stay
Once she lost her way
Seven kindly souls
Would not let her stray”

Seven is mentioned.

”All that she would do
Was to yearn for two
Just to walk above
With the man she'd love”

Two is mentioned.

The Riddle you get for Standard Difficulty:

The Riddle you get for Hard Difficulty:

“In a slumber deep
In a poisoned sleep
On a bed of stone

Alone indicates One.

“And so she wept in silence
With no prince to marry
Her life to be forfeit
Heartbroken and solitary”

Here, Solitary indicates One.

“When the clock would strike
Into the dead of night

Lastly, Alone indicates One again.
