Silent Hill 2 Guide | Vanity Mirror Puzzle & Suitcase Code

Konami has made a return with the release of Silent Hill 2, a remake of their legendary horror game. This game is known for its odd puzzles, which may be time-consuming and frustrating. The remake of Silent Hill 2 is no different. This guide will demonstrate how you can solve the Vanity Mirror Puzzle and with it unlock the Suitcase.

The Suitcase in the Lakeview Hotel Room 208 requires a code that can be acquired once you attach a red bulb to the Vanity Mirror. However, if you are impatient, you can skip this step and scroll all the way down to get the code for the suitcase although we do not recommend it. The suitcase holds an important key inside that you’ll need to progress through the game.

First, you’ll need to locate the suitcase; go to the Reading Room in order to complete the Hotel Book Puzzle, which unlocks Room 205 – the room where the suitcase is located. You can view our Silent Hill 2 | How to Solve the Hotel Book Puzzle Guide as the puzzle can be a bit confusing.

In order to solve the Vanity Mirror Puzzle in Room 205 you’ll need to fix the broken bulb for which you need to collect a bunch of items.

• Blood Red: Paint Can
• Bolt Cutters
•  Light Bulb
• Can Opener
  

How to get the Paint Can

You can get the Blood Red: Paint Can after collecting the Cinderella Figurine for the Music Box Puzzle. Once you make it to the Conference Room, you’ll need to push the cabinet and break the wall between Room 316 and Room 317; after you do that, you’ll be able to access Room 318 where the Blood Red: Paint Can be found on the coffee table.

How to get the Bolt cutters

After you get the Blood Red: Paint Can you’ll need to get the Bolt Cutters. To get the Bolt Cutters you have to head to the Utility Room on the third floor.

How to get Light Bulb

Once you get the Bolt Cutters, you’ll need to use them on the locked gates and to get access to the Lakeview Hotel Garden; in the Garden, you’ll find the Light Bulb on the fountain.

How to get Can Opener

After you get the Bolt Cutters you’ll need to get the Can Opener. Head to Room 217 and make your way to the Balcony; shoot the window to get your hands on the Can Opener, you can pick it up on the first floor in the Lake Shore Restaurant.

How to get Red Light Bulb

You’ll need to combine all the Items once you are done collecting them in your inventory. Combine the Can opener with the Blood Red: Paint Can to get an Open Paint Can. Then Combine the Open Paint Can with the Light Bulb to get a Red Light Bulb.

Make your way back to the Vanity Mirror in Room 205 and remove the old broken light bulb. Place the new one in its place. The code for the suitcase will pop up in the mirror that you can use to get a key.

The Code you get will vary with the puzzle difficulty you’ve set:

Light Difficulty: DARK WISH

Standard Difficulty: DEED DONE

Hard Difficulty LOVE LUST

Upon opening the suitcase, you should get the Employee Elevator Key which will allow you to gain access to the Employee Section of the Lakeview Hotel.
