Finding food is your first big challenge in Subnautica 2. The local fish will not satisfy your hunger when you start the game. You can eat them, but your food meter stays empty. You must unlock a specific trait to fix this.

How to Unlock Digestion

Keep exploring and doing the tasks you receive. The Noa terminal will show you signals for different black boxes. You need to find the one named Anita in Subnautica 2.

Keep your eyes open for a giant plant in the area. It looks just like the one from the opening tutorial. The Anita black box sits right near this structure. Swim down and interact with the box to get the Digestion adaptation. This allows your body to process the local creatures.

Cooking Your Catch

Food becomes easy to get once you have this perk. Swim through the water and grab any normal fish you find.

Picking up a fish automatically gives you a new blueprint. Take it to the fabricator to cook a meal. A plain fish restores 20 food points. You can find other items later to combine with fish for much better food stats in Subnautica 2.
