The Forge minigame in Ghost of Yōtei is introduced early in the game and serves as an essential part of your progression. You first encounter it during your return to Atsu’s Memories, where one of your objectives is to assist your father at the Forge. Learning the Forge minigame

You will first access the Forge activity when you re-enter Atsu’s Memories at the start of the story. As part of the objective, you are tasked with helping your father at the Forge. This is where you will be introduced to the smithing process in Ghost of Yōtei.

During the Forging sequence, you need to strike the heated metal to shape it. To do this, you must slam your controller down to elongate the metal piece.

If you have experience with other smithing mechanics in games, you will find the process straightforward. However, if this concept is new to you, it is essential to monitor the metal’s condition throughout the task in Ghost of Yōtei.

Managing Heat and Striking Technique

While working at the Forge, the metal will gradually cool down. You can identify this when it no longer glows red. When the metal cools, you must return it to the fire to heat it again until it regains its red glow.

Once the metal is hot, continue striking it to shape it properly. Pay close attention to the areas of the metal that are bent.

When one side is bent, flip it over and strike the opposite side to even it out. After several strikes, the metal will cool down again, requiring you to reheat it before resuming your work. Repeating this cycle is necessary to complete the Forging process correctly in Ghost of Yōtei.

Skipping the minigame

If you prefer not to participate in the Forging minigame repeatedly, you can enable a simplified control option. To do this, go to the Accessibility settings from the main menu, scroll down to the Forging Controls, and switch them to simplified mode. This allows you to bypass the complete smithing process whenever it appears in the game.
