The Traitorous Raider, Mad Goro, is a Bounty quest located in the Ishikari Plain region of Ghost of Yōtei. This guide outlines how to unlock the Bounty, track Mad Goro, and complete the objectives connected to this mission.

Accepting The Bounty

Outside the Ishikari Market, you will find a Bounty Board next to Kojiro the Bounty Broker. Interact with the board and accept Mad Goro’s Bounty along with any others posted there. Once received, you will immediately be attacked by two waves of Oni Raiders. Defeat both waves, then speak with the nearby barman to proceed in Ghost of Yōtei.

Starting The Side Quest

When you speak with the Bartender, you will be given a dialogue choice. Choose any response to begin the Side Quest: A Mad Pursuit. A short cutscene will play where Jubei appears and asks you to gather information about Mad Goro.

Gathering Information

You will need to eavesdrop on three groups of men to collect information about Iwami Village. After obtaining all the details, mount your horse and travel west with Jubei toward Iwami Village. Use the Guiding Wind to stay on course in Ghost of Yōtei.

Investigating Iwami Village

Upon arriving at Iwami Village, speak with the villagers and investigate the source of a nearby gunshot. Follow the sound and search the camp for clues that will help track Mad Goro. As you investigate, Ronins will attack. Defeat them, and Jubei will suggest following the river to continue the search.

Confronting Mad Goro

At the end of the river, you will come across an Oni Raider camp. Clear out the enemies and move uphill toward another camp where Mad Goro is located. He will fire at you before escaping on horseback. Mount your horse and pursue him while avoiding his bombs and musket shots. Continue the chase until Jubei corners him, forcing a final confrontation in Ghost of Yōtei.

Defeating Mad Goro

During the fight, Mad Goro will wield a burning stick, a Kusarigama, and a Katana. Avoid his flaming attacks and chain strikes to prevent taking heavy damage. Once he is defeated, you will interrogate him, concluding both the Bounty and the Side Quest: A Mad Pursuit in Ghost of Yōtei.

Additional Information

The Mad Goro Bounty does not contribute toward the Master Bounty Hunter trophy or any rewards. Follow the Side Quest: A Mad Pursuit until the sequence where you and Jubei ride across the Ishikari River and encounter an Oni Raider camp. Defeat the enemies there and chase Mad Goro uphill until he is cornered for the final battle.

This Bounty is unlocked by default and can be accepted immediately at the Ishikari Market Bounty Board as part of The Oni questline in Ghost of Yōtei.
