The Smiling Yoshitomo Bounty in Ghost of Yōtei is one of the early missions that can be taken once you unlock the Bounty system. This guide will help you through the entire process, from accepting the Bounty to claiming your reward after defeating the target.

Unlocking Bounties

To access Bounties, visit the Yōtei Grasslands area on your map. Progress through a few steps in this region until you meet Kojiro, the Bounty broker. Once you speak to Kojiro, a Bounty Board will become available to the left of him in Ghost of Yōtei.

From the board, you can accept three different Bounties. To pursue Smiling Yoshitomo, select the Bounty positioned on the far left. This Bounty offers a reward of 750 Coins and provides a clue stating that the target was last seen along the Sarubetsu River near Tranquil Falls.

You can take all available Bounties at once and decide the order in which to complete them. Once you have accepted the Smiling Yoshitomo Bounty, open your map and mark the location of Tranquil Falls to make navigation easier.

Traveling to Tranquil Falls

After marking the location, activate the Guiding Wind, which will direct you to Tranquil Falls. Upon arrival, you will notice a Camp set up along the river, making it straightforward to identify in Ghost of Yōtei.

Explore the Camp to inspect the area. You will find a mat that you can examine, along with some resources scattered nearby, which you may collect if needed. After completing your inspection and resource gathering, proceed to the Fireplace.

Preparing the Campfire

At the Fireplace, initiate the process to build a fire. This will trigger a Campfire mini-game where you will need to light pieces of Wood using your Flint. Once the Wood is lit, blow gently to ensure the fire is completely ignited in Ghost of Yōtei.

After setting up the fire, Smiling Yoshitomo will approach the Campsite, initiating the next stage of the mission.

Fighting Smiling Yoshitomo

A boss fight with Smiling Yoshitomo begins once he arrives. Although the fight is manageable, his fast attack patterns require attention. The most effective strategy is to focus on using Heavy Attacks, which help break through his defenses. Continue applying this tactic until he is defeated in Ghost of Yōtei.

Claiming the Reward

Defeating Smiling Yoshitomo completes the Bounty and rewards you with a new Blade Kit called the Smiling Kabuto-Mushi. This Kit alters the appearance of your current weapon, the Wolf Blade. Equip the Blade Kit if you prefer its look.

Once the Bounty is complete, fast travel back to Yōtei’s Shadow Inn by pressing the triangle button. You can choose which specific location or entrance to spawn at within the Inn, including near the Bounty Board for convenience.

After returning, speak to Kojiro to receive your 750 Coin reward and finish the Bounty in Ghost of Yōtei.
