Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a bold step in this beloved series, deviating from traditional norms of the hack-and-slash genre while maintaining its iconic appeal.

This guide covers two key battles: Suppression of Yan Province and the First Battle of Puyang. Each stage presents its own challenges. I’ll break down each stage, offering tips and strategies to help you navigate through them efficiently.

Yan Province Suppression

This is one of the simpler battles and should not give you much trouble. Your objective is to defeat 1,000 enemies within 10 minutes. This can be easily achieved by focusing on enemy foot soldiers and taking advantage of large enemy clusters.

Since this stage doesn’t require any special maneuvers, just play as you normally would, clearing out waves of enemies efficiently. This should be straightforward for most players.

Battle of Puyang

In the Battle of Puyang, your goal is to capture 10 bases within 10 minutes. Essentially, victory is achieved as soon as you control 10 bases, making speed the key factor in this stage.

I would highly suggest using the accessory Drum of the Siege for added siege damage; it is not absolutely necessary, but it certainly makes a difference. Considering that your initial bases could fall before you reach the requisite 10, a slower-than-planned base capture will make victory decidedly trickier.

Best Base Capture Route:

  1. Proceed first toward the very top of the map and capture the first enemy base.
  2. Afterward, proceed to the second central base, which has to be captured so that Sun Ce cannot engage any enemies there.
  3. To save time, avoid bases manned by tough enemy commanders. Instead, choose bases with weaker enemies.
  4. Capture the bottom-left base next, as it has no elite officers defending it.
  5. Move directly to the middle base. Be aware that an enemy officer will spawn there; if you see their icon, avoid engaging and go for an easier base.
  6. Capture the two central eastern bases, each guarded by weaker enemies.
  7. Check the map: If your starting bases have not fallen, you should have nine bases at this point.
  8. Secure a final base below the central middle area to reach 10 and claim victory.
  9. If a base falls before you secure all 10, head to the bottom of the map and take another base quickly. This should allow you to compensate for any losses and secure the win.

These two stages vary in difficulty, with Yan Province being the easiest and Puyang requiring strategic base captures. By following these strategies, you’ll maximize your chances of success and prevent unnecessary morale losses.
