Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a bold step in this beloved series, deviating from traditional norms of the hack-and-slash genre while maintaining its iconic appeal.
This guide covers the Conquest of Wu. Each stage presents its own challenges. I'll break down each stage, offering tips and strategies to help you navigate through them efficiently.
Conquest of Wu
This battle requires eliminating Wang Lang and Yan Baihu before they amass a large force. The difficulty comes from their separation on opposite ends of the map, making it challenging to prevent their forces from growing. Managing both sides strategically ensures success.
The best method is to weaken Wang Lang first while targeting Yan Baihu. To begin, heading to the middle-western base to eliminate the NPC Rebel General prevents Wang Lang from gaining reinforcements. This process should be repeated for a second enemy approaching from another base. Keeping Wang Lang’s forces minimized allows for more time to eliminate Yan Baihu.
After securing Wang Lang’s position, rushing toward Dong Xi’s base in the center of the map is crucial. Capturing this base boosts morale and prevents the enemy’s supply unit from deploying reinforcements. Defeating Dong Xi also strengthens allied forces, increasing their ability to handle stray enemy officers. Some opponents will inevitably bypass defenses, but limiting their numbers improves control over the battlefield.
Once Dong Xi is defeated, heading toward the northeastern base is necessary to eliminate Yan Yu. This move disrupts the enemy’s strategy, slowing their overall reinforcements. Assassinating Yan Baihu should be prioritized after this point, as he is significantly weaker than the other commanders. Using strong battle arts can quickly deplete his health.
The final step is eliminating Wang Lang. After neutralizing nearby enemy officers, meeting his reinforcements at their entry point prevents his forces from regaining strength. If these officers reach him, his army may suddenly grow in size. Defeating surrounding officers before facing Wang Lang ensures a manageable battle.
Once Wang Lang is eliminated, the challenge is complete, allowing the rest of the battle to proceed at a controlled pace. Maintaining pressure and preventing enemy reinforcements from reaching their commanders ensures success.
