Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a bold step in this beloved series, deviating from traditional norms of the hack-and-slash genre while maintaining its iconic appeal.
This guide covers the Battle of Chibi. Each stage presents its own challenges. I'll break down each stage, offering tips and strategies to help you navigate through them efficiently.
Battle of Chibi
Your objective in this battle is to defeat Huang Gai in 10 minutes. This may seem like an easy task, but reaching him before he connects his ship to the fleet reduces the amount of time that you have to spend, just about four and a half minutes.
Since time is a limiting factor, for the best possible start, head to the right side of the map to eliminate Jiang Qin and other nearby NPC officers. What this does is it prevents enemy reinforcements from coming in and overwhelming allied forces. You can expect to be done with this in two and a half minutes.
After you’re done, head toward the back of the base to finish off two additional NPC officers to reduce the number of enemies threatening the eastern flank; doing so would make your fight with Ling Ciao easier, making sure your allies aren’t overrun.
Once the eastern side of the map is stable, head to the west to assist Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. Make sure to use your True Musuo Rage and battle strategies to speed up the fights.
When Huang Gau starts attacking Zhou Yu, you can start engaging him directly. Use AOE attacks in that fight so also take out surrounding enemy forces, and make sure to save bravery boosts and attack enhancements for the final encounter.
After you defeat Huang Gau, you’ll need to make sure Ma Zhong survives. Head towards the altar to take out Xiahou Dun to prevent further enemy advances, while he doesn’t need to be defeated entirely it certainly does help weaken enemy reinforcements.
When the retreat sign is given, you want to take out as many enemy officers as you can; while Xiahou Dun and Jiang Win will respawn again, the other enemy officers won't. So, when you take out the enemy officer, it’ll prevent morale boosts for enemy forces later in the battle.
The final step is to stop Xu Shu and Xu Zhu from releasing the chains that control the fire attack. Once they are defeated, the battle will continue as usual, with your primary challenge completed.
