The Second Battle of Puyang in Dynasty Warriors: Origins involves facing Lu Bu within the castle. This challenge requires careful strategy, as defeating Lu Bu is a significant task. The key is ensuring he stays in the castle throughout the battle, as once he leaves, he will not return.
Attempts to casually lure Lu Bu back into the castle often fail. Rushing directly to fight him also results in complications, as reinforcements can bolster enemy morale, making it harder to protect allies and focus on Lu Bu. A step-by-step approach is necessary to efficiently handle this challenge.
Step 1: Eliminate Reinforcement Points
Begin by taking down the four enemies holding the reinforcement points. Time is limited, so engaging each one in a duel is recommended. This ensures faster elimination compared to one-on-one combat. If a duel fails, restarting may be necessary to save time. Utilizing a setup with attack boosts, defense boosts, or bravery enhancements can be beneficial.
Step 2: Interception of Lu Bu
After defeating the reinforcement forces, head in the direction of the Southern Gate. Lu Bu will try to escape from the castle, so preferably try to intercept him before he approaches the door. It is better to fight him in the center of the castle because that way, he won't reach the door. If he tries to make a run for the front of the castle, then he can be forced toward the allied forces, such as Xiahou Yuan's camp, which can help to keep him cornered.
Step 3: Engage in Combat
The trick here is reducing Lu Bu's health to 25%, as if so, he will retreat. Lu Bu gets more offensive at around 40% health, which also uses a lot of counterattacks and defense mechanisms. One needs to monitor his patterns and time the attacks appropriately. Special arts such as the Power Shot are great in retaliation to unblockable attacks due to their range and speed.
Step 4: Dealing with His Attacks
His final Musou Attacks are highly dangerous: unless adequately dodged, defeat is assured. Heavy attacks and bravery boosts should be conserved until he tries this so that you can counter him properly. For health recovery, the Meat Buns in the nearby villages or states can be used in situations where health is getting too low.
Keeping Lu Bu in the castle and addressing reinforcements early is vital to success. Patience and observation are necessary during the fight, as Lu Bu’s unpredictable movements can create challenges. Despite the difficulty, this battle offers a rewarding opportunity to master combat mechanics and strategic planning.
